Riverview Baptist Bible Institute is under the leadership of our President, Dr. John Paisley and is a ministry of Riverview Baptist Church. Vice President Pastor Gordon Robson is currently head of operations of the Institute. Dr. Robson is committed to providing a course of study leading to educational and practical training in our blessed Bible, Church Planting, Missions Ministry and all other phases of local church ministry efforts. Dr. Robson has been working in prison ministry since 1995. During the year 2001, a couple of men from prison were requesting to get further training for full-time Christian ministry work. Their burden became the burden of Pastor Robson and he started Riverview Baptist Bible Institute with these two men.
It wasn’t long before others at Riverview Baptist Church wanted to be involved in learning the Word of God and being prepared for ministry work. We started with having classes on Saturday only because most of our students worked full time. Since that early commencement, the Institute has expanded to a Three Year Associate Degree in Ministry and a Four Year Bachelor Degree.
RBBI was established to prepare Godly Christian men and women to serve the Lord in full time service as well as training soulwinners to take the Gospel of Jesus Christ to a lost and dying world. The key verse of the Institute is II Timothy 2:2, “And the things that thou hast heard of me among many witnesses, the same commit thou to faithful men who shall be able to teach others also.” RBBI is now available to anyone desiring training in serving Christ in the local church.
For our Associate Degree students, classes are now held on Monday and Tuesday evenings and all day Saturdays. We initially held classes in a classroom of our Christian Day School. Now we have our own classroom dedicated to the needs of our students. We have a desire to be a blessing to students in preparing the next generation of Christian leaders for Christ and are committed to providing practical training opportunities. Students preparing for the pastorate are preaching within weeks of their first day of school. Our teachers in training are in the classroom on their first day of school. Preaching is an emphasis at RBBI because preaching is an emphasis of the Word of God. Our philosophy is that you learn by doing.
We are local church oriented and love our King James Bible. We emphasize church planting at our Institute and are active in training laborers for the harvest field. Our biggest concern for any potential student is for that individual to discover the Lord's will for their life. We want our students to be exactly where the Lord wants them.
If you are not able to be on campus with us, online students are encouraged to be involved in their local church. Our online students are very special to us and we will endeavour to communicate with and pray for you. We will also attempt to help you grow spiritually within the paramaters of your local church and under the guidance of your Pastor. Online students will only have courses available as we complete them. This is a slow process and we ask for your patience as we grow here at RBBI.
Unlike many Bible colleges, we do not have organized social and recreational activity programs. Our desire is to train workers for the harvest field and that is our primary focus. We endeavor to develop students spiritually for responsible and productive Christian ministries. You just might be one of those special individuals that God will call here. It will depend on what you are looking for and what God will have for you. Pray and seek the Lord to see if He continues to put RBBI on your heart.
